Why You Should Contact a Bensalem, PA Fireplace Repair Contractor to Fix Cracks in Your Fireplace
Whether you use it as the main source of heat for your Bucks County home or you only use it a few times a year to create ambiance, keeping a close eye on the condition of your fireplace is important. While brick and stone have long been used for their lasting durability, even these robust materials are susceptible to damage. Of all the different types of damage that a fireplace can experience, cracks and fissures are the most common. Moisture, age, regular use, constant exposure to harsh conditions, and ground movement are all factors that can contribute to cracks and gaps in a fireplace.
To detect cracks in your Bucks County fireplace, having the structure inspected at least once a year is essential. If any cracks are detected – whether minor or major – having the damage fixed by a Bensalem, PA fireplace repair contractor is imperative. Here are three reasons why it’s vital to invest in professional fireplace repair near you to fix cracks in the structure.
Reduce the Risk of Danger
A well-constructed fireplace is comprised of several layers that are constructed of highly durable materials to ensure the structure is fire-resistant. If a crack develops – even a seemingly minor crack – the structure is no longer fire-resistant, and whenever you light a fire, there’s a risk that flames and burning embers will blow through the cracks and into the surrounding walls. If that happens, there’s a chance that the building materials will ignite, and fire could spread throughout your entire Bucks County home. Since cracks are serious fire hazards, they should be addressed by a professional Bensalem, PA fireplace repair contractor as soon as possible.
Improved Efficiency
In addition to increasing the risk of a house fire, cracks can negatively impact the efficiency of your fireplace. Depending on the size of the cracks, cold outdoor air could blow through them and into your Bucks County home; plus, that air will impact the efficiency of the fires you burn in the firebox. To maintain the efficiency of the structure – and your home – having cracks repaired by a Bensalem, PA fireplace repair professional is essential.
Improved Aesthetic Appeal
Enhanced aesthetic appeal is another important reason to have cracks in your fireplace repaired by a contractor that specializes in fireplace repair near you. A fireplace is a central component of your Bucks County home. It’s more than just functional; it has a big impact on the look and feel of your house. If the fireplace is cracked, instead of making your home look warm and welcoming, the structure will look worn-out, run-down, and uninviting. By fixing the cracks, an experienced technician that specializes in Bensalem, PA fireplace repairs will restore the charm of the structure, and in turn, enhance the overall aesthetic appeal of your home.

Bensalem Township is a township in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, United States and borders the northeast section of Philadelphia. The township is composed of many communities, including Andalusia, Bensalem, Bridgewater, Cornwells Heights, Eddington, Flushing, Oakford, Siles, Trappe, and Trevose. Bensalem Township has no incorporated municipalities within its boundaries. As of the 2010 census, the township had a total population of 60,427, which makes it the most populated municipality in Bucks County, and the ninth most populated municipality in Pennsylvania. The township, which was founded in 1692, is almost as old as Pennsylvania itself, which was founded in 1682.
The area of Bensalem Township was likely distinct by 1682 as it appears on the Holme Map, though not yet with a name. By 2 January 1685, the boundary was fixed between Bensalem and Philadelphia County along the Poquessing Creek. At the September session in 1692 of the Court of Bucks County, a jury of thirteen men was formed to define boundaries of divisions that had been created up to that time. The report submitted in December states that ‘All the lands between Neshamineh and Poquessin, and so to the upper side of Joseph Growden’s land in one and to be called ‘Salem.” It thus appears that the first name of the township was ‘Salem’. The minutes of the Board of Property of the Province on 19 November 1701 at Philadelphia noted the name of the area as ‘Bensalem’. The population of the area was first a few Dutch and Swedes, then later a larger influx of English, and then additional Dutch settled the area.
